Liverpool’s injury update ahead of Sheffield United clash

Sheffield United are preparing to travel to Anfield on Thursday evening to take on Premier League leaders Liverpool. And the home side could be handed an injury boost against the Blades.

Liverpool recently got Mohamed Salah back from a short-term injury, and Jurgen Klopp may see further improvement in his injury situation ahead of Sheffield United’s visit.

Liverpool’s injury news ahead of Sheffield United

Per the Liverpool Echo, the Reds may see the return of both Andy Robertson and midfielder Curtis Jones against Sheffield United, as neither were risked in the match against Brighton. Jones, who hasn’t played since the win at Brentford due to an ankle injury, has been progressing well in recent weeks.

Similarly, Jota, sidelined for over a month, is also making good progress, but he is being ruled out to play against Sheffield United. Trent Alexander-Arnold is also a doubt given he hasn’t fully started training again.

Liverpool continue to be without their No.1 goalkeeper, Alisson, who remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. Caoimhín Kelleher has impressed in his absence.

Meanwhile, it seems that the duo Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip have likely played their last games in a red shirt given they’re out of contract this summer.

Sheffield United currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League, 10 points adrift from safety, so they will be hopeful of at least a miraculous point against Liverpool. Chris Wilder’s side have two games in hand over Nottingham Forest, but United’s next two games are extremely tough.
