Blades in talks to sign Mama Baldé – L’equipe

According to L’Équipe, Sheffield United is reportedly in talks to secure the signing of Mama Baldé. The Troyes forward could cost a fee of around €6m.

Despite his contract with Troyes running until 2025, the Guinea-Bissau international seems likely to leave after their relegation to Ligue 2 last season. Baldé, 27, scored 12 goals in 34 games in Ligue 1 last season [SofaScore], has not played for Troyes this campaign. This caught Sheffield United’s attention as they seek a replacement for Iliman Ndiaye, who moved to Olympique Marseille this summer.

Negotiations between Sheffield United and Troyes have been ongoing, with a fee slightly above €6m, as reported by L’equipe.

Blades late recruitment

Sheffield United have left it late in their bid to recruiting forwards. With Cameron Archer on the verge of being announced, they are also heavily linked with Divock Origi, Facundo Pellistri and now Mama Baldé. There is also still hope that James McAtee could re-sign on loan this summer.

The Blades are facing an issue because with the arrival of Archer, they only have squad space for one more player. Unless they are to exclude John Fleck, who’s currently injured, from the squad, and possibly selling or loaning out Daniel Jebbison, Will Osula and/or Ismaila Coulibaly.
