COH Sports, owned by Rosen and Eltoukhy, has taken a significant step forward in its attempt to acquire Sheffield United, with the group confirming they have secured approval from the English Football League (EFL).

In a joint statement, COH Sports leaders Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy expressed their satisfaction with the progress made:

“We are pleased to have secured approval from the EFL and thank them for their thoughtful engagement on the process. This was the last outstanding matter, and we look forward to moving forward to completion as soon as possible,” [via Football Heaven].

The statement also highlighted COH Sports’ eagerness to support Sheffield United’s strong start to the season and their commitment to providing timely resources to manager Chris Wilder and his team:

“We want to see the Club building on its strong start, and we believe that only a rapid completion will allow us to support Chris and the team in securing the best result in the January transfer window.”

Meanwhile, the Blades’ chairman Yusuf Giansiracusa also issued a message to fans on the club website regarding the latest development:

“Dear Fans,

We are pleased to hear that COH Sports has finally received EFL approval.

We look forward to updating you over the coming days.

Blades Takeover Imminent

Now, it seems as though the takeover is officially days away from being completed as United attempt to continue their excellent form into the busy festive period. And with the January transfer window just around the corner, getting the deal completely signed off on both sides in time for some New Year’s spending would be perfect timing.

The Blades are currently suffering from a lack of depth in one or two areas due to injuries and suspensions, so if United do have new owners by January they’d be wise to sanction two or three signings to bolster the squad, and it also provides them a first chance of getting the fans on their side.
