PRESTON, ENGLAND - AUGUST 09: Gustavo Hamer of Sheffield United celebrates with Vinicius Souza and Callum O'Hare after scoring their second goal during the Sky Bet Championship.

The stage is set for Sheffield United duo to visit former club this weekend

This Saturday afternoon will see Coventry City host Sheffield United, and this will be the first time Gustavo Hamer and Callum O’Hare will face off against their old club since joining the Blades.

While Hamer is still loved by the Sky Blues, scoring 19 times and assisting 24 goals in 132 appearances, it seems like the same can’t be said for O’Hare, despite registering more goals and assists than Hamer.

Earlier this year, after a 4-1 win in pre-season over Harrogate Town, the attacking midfielder hinted that part of the reason he wanted to go to United was to “play all the time,” stating that he was “frustrated” with his lack of playing time following his comeback from injury.

O’Hare said, via Coventry Telegraph: “The manager had the trust in me. I know that there were a lot of teams interested but, for me, it’s just about playing football and showing what I can do. So I feel like after the last couple of years that I have had, being able to do that and show everyone what I can do is what I want to do this year, and that’s the main reason why I came here, to get the chance to play all the time. That’s what I love doing the most and what footballers want to do, play football.

“Obviously I got injured and came back and I was flying. And then things happened and I was took out of the team, so it was just a frustrating one. I just want to be playing football, so, for me the motivation is to just get on the pitch and excite the fans and win football games, and that’s what I am here to do.”

Since these comments, Coventry fans have flooded United’s social media with their comments aimed at O’Hare. For United fans, it seems rather amusing that Coventry supporters claim they no longer care about their ex players, yet somehow always seem to appear if either impacts the game for Sheffield United. Perhaps it’s written in the stars for the duo to influence the result against the Sky Blues this weekend.
