The Sheffield United development team continued their unstoppable form in a 7-2 victory over Huddersfield Town in the Premier League Cup on Monday evening.
A hat-trick from Louie Marsh, and goals from Jevan Beattie, Billy Blacker Marshall Francis and Tom Davies, helped the Blades to a huge win meaning they’ve now netted a whopping 20 goals in the last three fixtures.
The pick of the bunch however was undoubtedly from Tom Davies. The former Everton midfielder has had a long road to recovery following his injury last season, and now it looks like he is edging closer to a return to the first-team. Over the last month, Davies has been featuring in U21’s matches, with a few first half’s under his belt and then being subbed at half-time.
Now, he has stepped up his minutes and in his recent appearance in the 7-2 win over Huddersfield, he scored a stunning first-time volley in the 72nd minute to grab United’s sixth of the night.

The target has been to get Davies back in first-team contention again for around the back end of November, and he certainly appears to be on track to meet that objective. Chris Wilder’s excellent midfield will only get better and more experienced when Davies is back available for selection again. Fingers crossed that the Blades get to see Davies back in the matchday squad for their trip to Coventry City after the two-week international break.
