The Sheffield United players huddle up ahead of the kickoff against Swansea City at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United continued their impressive run of form by securing a vital 2-0 victory over Luton Town at Bramall Lane, marking their fourth home win of the season. The Blades showcased a dominant performance, capped off by two goals from Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, who found the net early in both halves of the match. This victory has propelled United to second place in the league, level on points with leaders Sunderland.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi scores his second goal of the game, and his second of the season, against Luton Town, which ultimately led to Sheffield United winning 2-0.

Rak-Sakyi’s contributions have been pivotal for the Blades over the last few weeks, and he spoke to SUTV about the competitive atmosphere within the squad. “Everyone wants to play,” he noted. “There’s a lot of competition for places; we all want to do well as a team. So whoever is playing, whether it’s me or Brooksy or whoever, we just want to support each other because at the end of the day, we all want to win and do well this season.”

Manager Chris Wilder was pleased with his team’s ability to keep to the game plan, he told SUTV: “We had control of the first half, and we were good value for being up in the game. It’s quite easy to go off plan and players wanting to be stars of the show, take an extra touch, run in, do what they want to do… You just need to keep doing the same thing, repeat it, and grind the opposition down, and we did.” This disciplined approach has been a hallmark of Sheffield United’s recent performances, they’re yet to concede a goal in the Championship since their away draw at Norwich City back in late August.

Wilder also addressed the team’s impressive unbeaten streak, which now stands at nine matches. “I’ll let everybody else talk about [us being nine unbeaten],” he remarked. “I’ll just get my head down and work for the football club and do my best as I always have done. My coaching staff and I are incredibly committed 100%. It’s our lives, it’s what we live for.” His focus on hard work and resilience reflects on the football club’s motto, and so far they’ve been on point through nine games of the Championship.

As Sheffield United head into the international break, they find themselves in an enviable position. With an unbeaten run extended to nine matches and six consecutive clean sheets, the Blades are ready to embrace the challenges of the upcoming fixtures which include an away trip to Leeds United. Wilder emphasised the importance of maintaining the connection with supporters: “The supporters need a team like us at the moment, and the players need the punters. If we get that connection, hopefully, we can keep enjoying days like today.”
