Callum O'Hare announced as a Sheffield United player.

“From there I knew…” – Callum O’Hare on signing for Sheffield United

Sheffield United had a busy Monday afternoon as they announced the signings of two top Championship players: Kieffer Moore and Callum O’Hare. The latter joins the Blades on a free transfer after his contract expired at Coventry City earlier this summer.

O’Hare, 26, joins United on a four-year deal. Throughout his career, O’Hare has played as a left-winger, right-winger, and attacking midfielder, but there’s no doubt he is most effective when deployed as a number ten. From that position, he has registered 21 goals and 30 assists in 132 appearances.

The Blades could be looking at a formidable midfield trio consisting of Oli Arblaster, Gustavo Hamer, and Callum O’Hare, which would undoubtedly be one of the best midfields in the Championship.

Although concerns have been raised regarding O’Hare’s injury record, the only significant issue is that he missed 50 games during the 2022/23 campaign due to a hamstring strain and an ACL injury, according to Transfermarkt. Other than that, his injury record is relatively clean.

“I’m buzzing to be here. It’s a big club. I had some interest from other teams and other leagues but I feel like this is the right step in my career so I can’t wait to go out there and play,” he told SUTV.

“I met him [Wilder] in Birmingham and from there I knew what a top man he was and he kept in touch and since then the conversation just kept flowing and I thought definitely he was the right person to work under.”

“I came back [from injury] and started 20/21 games and managed to get 10 goals so it was a good return and I just want to take that into this season. Got two against Sheffield Wednesday, which was obviously a good one.”

O’Hare linking back up with his old teammate Gustavo Hamer has quite rightly lifted the mood of the Sheffield United fan base this week.
