Wolverhampton Wanderers are showing interest in two Sheffield United players as the Blades face seeing a couple of key names depart the club this summer.
It is being reported that Wolves are leading the race to sign Bosnian defender Anel Ahmedhodzic. United have set an asking price of £20 million for the 25-year-old, however it is thought they may have to sell for a bit less than that, according to Alan Nixon. Ahmedhodzic is keen on a move back to the Premier League.
Ahmedhodzic was a main part of the Sheffield United defence last season but he will quickly want to forget the previous campaign in a hurry. The Bosnian international set unwanted Premier League history with the Blades as they conceded the most goals in Premier League history: 104 goals.
Another Blades player Wolves are interested in is Gustavo Hamer, who individually had a fairly decent debut Premier League campaign. The 27-year-old racked up four goals and six assists but his efforts could not help United’s dire situation. Alan Nixon has revealed that Gary O’Neil is looking at the Dutchman, but they have several other options to explore.
Hamer missed out on United’s first pre-season game on Saturday, due to a calf complaint, in a 2-1 win at York City. He did travel with the team and was spotted at the LNER Community stadium.
Vinicius Souza to leave Sheffield United
Vinicius Souza, like Ahmedhodzic, is another player that is likely to leave the Blades before the start of the new season. The Brazilian midfielder was previously linked with a move to Italian giants AC Milan, and more Italian clubs are interested in him.
More recently, he has been linked with a return to the Premier League as Fulham have reportedly had a £15 million bid rejected as they search for a Joao Palhinha replacement. Souza’s agents are working hard to try and land Souza a move away from Bramall Lane, per Nixon.
Leeds United have bid rejected for Jayden Bogle
It was originally revealed by Mike McGrath that Jayden Bogle had interest from Leeds United. And now Alan Nixon has claimed the Blades have rejected a £3 million bid for their only senior right-back. Bogle is in the final year of his contract with the club and it is thought Sheffield United want at least £7 million for the 23-year-old.
Sheffield United linked with midfield duo
The potential new owners of the Blades are keen on signing Swansea City captain Matt Grimes and Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean. If they are given the green light on the takeover then they will ramp up their efforts to sign the midfield duo, per Nixon.
