“Hopefully it’ll get sorted” – Sheffield United player with expiring contract keen on staying

Ben Osborn has been an unsung hero at times for Sheffield United having been forced into playing multiple roles across his five seasons with the Blades.

The 29-year-old has donned the red and white shirt over 120, including 56 appearances in the Premier League. But the versatile midfielder is set to leave Bramall Lane in the summer.

Osborn has been an underrated piece in the Sheffield United squad, and often is scrutinised by supporters. While Osborn may not be the most easy on the eye player, he makes up for that with his versatility. We’ve seen the former Nottingham Forest man slot in at left-wingback, left-winger, central midfield and even right-wingback at times.

Ben Osborn wants to remain at Sheffield United this summer

As of now, he is out of contract in the summer, but United do have an option on his contract to extend it by a year. And speaking after the Brentford game, Osborn is content to remain with the Blades. “I hope so,” he said to The Star. “The gaffer’s spoken about potentially extending my option, so hopefully it’ll get sorted and I’ll be here for another year, at least.”

Chris Wilder is determined to keep the utility player around for next season. He revealed in a past interview with The Star, “we’ve spoken to Ben about extending. He’s got an option on his contract and he’s one we would like to work with next year.”
