Sheffield United academy graduate linked with £15m move

West Ham United continue to be linked with former Sheffield United centre-back Harry Maguire.

The 31-year-old, hailing as a product of the Blades’ youth academy, was heavily rumoured to be departing Manchester United in the summer, with the Hammers monitoring him. In spite of that, Maguire stayed and has since managed to turn his Man United career around, after a very difficult period filled with catastrophic errors.

As per journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon platform, West Ham are poised to pursue the England international in their quest to bolster their squad with enhanced aerial capabilities.

Previously, West Ham have been associated with the Yorkshireman, but a departure from Old Trafford never materialised. Nevertheless, reports suggest that West Ham might be prepared to offer between £15 million and £20 million to secure his signature this summer.

Maguire arrived at Manchester United with an £80 million price-tag on his head, after having a successful spell with Leicester City. But since then, it is fair to say his dominant aura has deteriorated, hence the huge loss the Red Devils would be making on him if indeed they do sell him in the upcoming transfer window.

Kyle Walker has recently reiterated his desire to eventually rejoin the Blades at the end of his career, could Maguire also follow suit at some point? The England defender has 166 Sheffield United appearances to his name and I for one certainly can see the Shirecliffe graduate return to Bramall Lane to finish off his career.
