It has been well-documented over the last few years that Sheffield United have been pursuing deals to buy new land in order to build a new training complex on. Finally, we have positive news.

Sheffield United Football Club have officially announced that they have had a deal accepted to buy the site of HSBC Sport & Social club in Dore. The aim is for the first-team to be stationed at the new site while the famous Blades academy will remain at Shirecliffe.

The upcoming state-of-the-art training center will feature two full-sized Desso pitches, along with additional grass and all-weather pitches. It will also house first-team offices, a gymnasium, and possibly player residential accommodations.

United have reiterated they remain solely focused on making the youth academy category one, and this development will be a huge step in the right direction.

Sheffield United’s CEO Stephen Bettis has been speaking to the club’s website regarding this major announcement.

“This is fantastic news for the long-term development of the club and another huge commitment from Prince Abdullah and the club’s board to the continued improvement of our infrastructure.

“For well over three years, we have been working hard to secure land within the city to take our training facilities to the next level, and by securing the site in Dore, our patience has finally paid off.

“We have space to develop the Academy to be able to eventually meet Category One status.

“This is a significant investment in the football club. It will give us a long-lasting legacy from being back in the Premier League and will give the first team a solid foundation for future success for many years to come.”
