Sheffield United boss furious with poor defending

Arsenal destroyed Sheffield United 6-0 on Monday night, with most of the damage being done before halftime.

The Gunners took a 5-0 lead into the interval and their were five different goalscorers: Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and of course the own goal by Jayden Bogle.

Bogle’s own goal for Sheffield United marks their fifth own goal in the Premier League this season, a tally higher than any other team in the competition.

After the game, Wilder expressed his disappointment in the way his team defended. Speaking to SUTV he said: “I didn’t think we were very good, I think we, not gifted goals away, but certain situations we could do a lot better from it from a defensive point of view.

“You have to defend right, you have to track runners right, we didn’t do that and made it pretty easy for them to open us up,” Wilder added.

The Blades made it far too easy for one of the best team’s in the world at this moment in time, and when you do that you run the risk of getting smashed. But at this point now supporters, and probably even the players have become immune to embarrassment having been beaten 8-0, 5-0 multiple times, and now a 6-0 defeat.

Unfortunately it looks as though Sheffield United could go down in the history books as the worst top-flight defence of all time.
