Sheffield United are said to be ready to send a new contract offer to Oli Arblaster, which could disappoint Liverpool in their efforts to acquire him.
The 19-year-old spent the initial half of the 2023/24 season on loan at Port Vale, in the third-tier, where he featured in 20 League One matches in the Midlands club. During his time there, Arblaster scored twice and contributed one assist for Vale before being recalled by Sheffield United following Chris Wilder’s appointment as head coach.
The midfielder boasts some international experience, having featured for England at the Under-20 level since making his debut for the Three Lions in 2023.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sheffield United are gearing up to take the next significant stride to ensure the young talent, Arblaster, remains part of their long-term plans.
According to the report, the struggling Blades are poised to present the boyhood Blade a contract offer at Bramall Lane in the upcoming days.
It’s been suggested that United are highly motivated to secure Arblaster’s future in the long run, especially in light of significant interest from top Premier League clubs.
Having been called back from Port Vale just last month, the 19-year-old is inching closer to making his debut in the Premier League for Wilder’s team, currently at the bottom of the league standings.
Following a devastating 5-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion at Bramall Lane on Sunday afternoon, Sheffield United find themselves at the bottom of the Premier League table, trailing 17th-placed Luton Town by seven points.
Arblaster has already made five appearances for United in the early stages of his career, including four outings in the Championship last season as Paul Heckingbottom’s side secured automatic promotion.
The midfielder is one of Sheffield United’s best young players so to get him tied down to a long-term deal would be a massive move and almost feel like a new signing.
