Sheffield United have shown interest in securing Southampton forward Sekou Mara, as reported in the latest update given by Ed Aarons.
As the January transfer window approaches its end, the Blades are actively seeking potential additions, under the keen eye of manager Chris Wilder, who is determined to bolster the squad’s strength in their bid to remain in the Premier League beyond this season.
At the bottom of the table presently, Sheffield United face challenges both in attack and defence this season, evident from their conceding 51 goals in 21 league games. Their scoring record is equally concerning, with only 17 goals scored, a figure far from sufficient to maintain their top-level status.
While the addition of Cameron Archer from Aston Villa in the summer has given them a burst of pace, it’s evident that more attacking firepower is needed, having only found the net three times in the Premier League.
Ben Brereton-Diaz arrived earlier this month on loan from Villarreal, having been deployed on the left of a front three, he scored a goal on his Premier League debut for his new club in a 2-2 draw against West Ham.
Sekou Mara has scored twice for the Saints this term, further adding an assist, but he’s only started once in the Championship.
