Recent reports from the Swedish media suggest that AIK are keen on signing Ismaila Coulibaly from Sheffield United. The club’s interest in the player was initially disclosed later last year, and it appears that they have now intensified their efforts to secure the transfer.
The reports indicate that AIK have committed significant attention to the potential move, setting aside other matters to focus on bringing Ismaila Coulibaly to the club.
In an interesting development, the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagblade has featured a story on AIK’s sporting director, Thomas Berntsen, regarding the transfer window. Notably, they directly inquired about the Sheffield United player, Ismaila Coulibaly, bringing attention to the ongoing discussions and potential negotiations surrounding his possible move to AIK.
Bernsten told the media:
“We picked him up when he was young and spent a lot of time finding the right position. When he finally got to play in the Elite League, he quickly became so damn good that he was sold to the Premier League. We have a dialogue with both the player and Sheffield, but it can be difficult to make it work financially.”
The club chief had no reservations about confirming their pursuit of Ismaila Coulibaly, stating that they have been tracking the player for an extended period. This acknowledgment suggests a longstanding interest in Coulibaly and indicates the club’s dedication to securing his services.
Ismaila Coulibaly has featured in just one game for Sheffield United this season, starting in the team that suffered a defeat against Lincoln City in the EFL Cup. Given his limited playing time and apparent eagerness for more minutes on the field, it seems the Blades have little reason to retain the midfielder in the squad.
