Brighton will miss five key players in Sunday’s Premier League clash against Sheffield United but might welcome back influential defender Pervis Estupinan. The Seagulls are facing Ajax in the Europa League tonight with Estupinan, absent for the last four Premier League games due to injury, expected to be on the bench.
They also anticipate being without Tariq Lamptey for the Blades game, along with likely absences of Danny Welbeck, Solly March, Julio Enciso, and Jakub Moder.
Roberto De Zerbi told the press during his latest conference:
“He will be on the bench, I don’t want to take a risk with him, but now we don’t have too many solutions in that position. We are trying to get him in the condition to play tomorrow or on Sunday because we have another important game against Sheffield (United).”
Despite a strong start, Brighton has struggled in their recent Premier League outings, securing draws against Fulham and Everton but facing challenges against other opponents, being without a win in their last five Premier League matches.
Meanwhile the Blades could have Anel Ahmedhodzic and Oli McBurnie back as they travel to the South coast before the international break. Daniel Jebbison and Tom Davies are edging closer to being available for the matchday squad once more.
With Sheffield United having more preparation and recovery time for the game, could Paul Heckingbottom’s side build on last weekend’s first victory of the season?
Given that Brighton are struggling for form at the minute, this could be the perfect opportunity for United to gain some momentum before showdowns against fellow relegation candidates Bournemouth and Burnley after the break.
