George Baldock expressed his appreciation for the Sheffield United fans and acknowledged that it doesn’t take much to energise the home support.
Baldock played a crucial role as he won a late penalty that led to Sheffield United’s dramatic victory over Wolves at Bramall Lane. His return from injury had a significant impact, highlighting how much the team has missed him this season.
Following reports of a player meeting during the week, the Greek international revealed that the senior players had discussed the importance of giving the home crowd reasons to be enthusiastic. They emphasised the need to get the fans on their side: and they did exactly that in the second half last Saturday.
“Do you know what, people always say to me about trying to rile the crowd up and things like that. But the thing is, when you’re at Bramall Lane, it’s not hard to get the crowd up. All you need to do is run around, tackle, work hard and the crowd will be behind you. That’s what we said in the week, they’ve always been behind us if we give them something to cheer,” Baldock exclaimed on SUTV.
Following a 2-1 win over Wolves, the Blades are now two points behind 17th. The relegation picture could change drastically over the next three games with some of the bottom four teams playing against each other.
