Paul Heckingbottom attempts to encourage his players

Sheffield United’s challenging season continues as they remain the only winless team in professional English football along with Cheltenham Town. The recent defeat against Fulham saw them level until Tom Cairney’s unusual goal and a stoppage-time strike from Willian secured their seventh loss in eight matches.

Paul Heckingbottom has encouraged his team to embrace the difficult challenge, highlighting their journey to the Premier League. The tough start to the season was compounded by a difficult transfer window, which included the departure of Iliman Ndiaye and Sander Berge. Since then, the Blades have been embarrassed 8-0 by Newcastle in front of the whole nation.

Sheffield United’s manager issued:

“We’ve lost so many players but we’ve got what we’ve got. It’s up to me, the staff, the players to enjoy this battle and enjoy the problems the Premier League poses.” [SUTV]

The Blades haven’t had any luck this season having been close to securing a point against the champions Manchester City, and then suffering a last minute defeat against Tottenham after leading most of the second half 1-0.

Heckingbottom said:

“I can’t be faulting the effort. I’ve been in that dressing room and it’s still the best job in the world. The players won’t feel it now but it is.”
