Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has once again dismissed Sheffield United’s chances of getting anything out of their next game while ignorantly referring to the Blades as “Sheffield”.
Merson wrote in his Sportskeeda column:
“I don’t see where Sheffield can win a game in the Premier League at the moment. It’s a funny game – I was saying the same thing about Luton last week, but they did win against Everton. I would be quite shocked if Sheffield avoided the drop this season.
“Fulham were very disappointing against Chelsea, but Sheffield are anything but Chelsea at the moment. I don’t see anything but a Fulham victory in this match.”
The ex Arsenal man has predicted a 2-0 win for the Cottagers.
Merson claims he doesn’t see where United can win a game at the moment. I’d argue this is one of the few games where they can win, based on the numbers. Both teams have struggled in front of goal, scoring five times. And defensively both sides are suspect.
After Burnley beat Luton Town in midweek, the Blades are the only team without a win in the league from the promoted sides. Failing to win at the weekend would mean there’s a strong possibility they could enter early November with a zero in the win column; they play Manchester United and Arsenal immediately after the October international break.
