Oli McBurnie: “ridiculous” Paul Heckingbottom scrutiny

Paul Heckingbottom has faced increased scrutiny in recent weeks, despite guiding the Blades to the top-flight amid financial challenges and takeover uncertainties. Working with a modest summer budget by Premier League standards, his team’s lack of quality, and preparation, has resulted in just one point from their first seven league matches.

Last weekend Sheffield United were embarrassed in front of their home supporters and the entire nation as they lost 8-0 to Newcastle United. Although the Blades displayed renewed fight and character at the London stadium, it wasn’t sufficient to secure any points as Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek netted relatively easy first-half goals.

Oli McBurnie emphatically asserts that Sheffield United’s players are fully supportive of manager Paul Heckingbottom despite the team’s winless start to the season, persisting with a 2-0 loss at West Ham. This leaves the Blades rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.

United’s number nine told SUTV: “If you look at his win ratio and where he took us from and where he took us to, with what he’s had to take us there, I don’t think there are many people in the country who could have done that, the boys are one million per cent behind him. I’m one million per cent behind him. He’s top, top class.”
