Newcastle United injury concerns ahead of Sunday

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is grappling with injury concerns as he prepares for the upcoming Premier League clash against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Despite escaping any apparent injuries during the goalless draw against AC Milan in the San Siro, the squad’s fitness will be closely evaluated in anticipation of Sunday’s match against the Blades.

Howe will once again be missing the pivotal midfield duo of Joe Willock and Joelinton, forcing him to make key decisions regarding his midfield options. However, it’s worth noting that Sandro Tonali, who had been sidelined with a muscle issue, made his return by starting the match in Milan.

Howe provided an injury update, via Chronicle Live, regarding the current status of players receiving treatment ahead of this weekend’s match.

Joelinton suffered a knee injury during international duty with Brazil and is set to be missing against Sheffield United. Joe Willock will also not be available on Sunday. Meanwhile Emil Krafth and Javier Manquillo are also doubts.

The Magpies are currently 12th after picking up six points from their opening five games. They have lost both of their away fixtures this season. Incidentally, they were the third-best away team in the Premier League last term.

After yet another gut-wrenching late defeat for the Blades last time out, there are serious question marks over United’s confidence coming into the clash against Newcastle United. But being at home, they’ll need to pick themselves up as this is a decent opportunity to get points on the board.
