Lincoln City fans view ahead of Sheffield United cup tie

Sheffield United has struggled in their return to the Premier League this season, however, they aim for better fortune in the Carabao Cup tonight against Lincoln City.

In their recent match, the Blades suffered a 2-1 loss to defending champions Manchester City. Despite Jayden Bogle’s 85th minute equaliser, their opponents quickly regained the lead.

Lincoln City’s season began with a 3-0 defeat against Bolton Wanderers. Yet, they’ve rebounded and are currently in 4th place in League One. In their latest outing, they secured a decisive 3-0 win over Blackpool, with three different players contributing goals. Ethan Erhahon marked his first goal for the club in that match.

Having previously defeated Notts County 2-0 in the Carabao Cup first round, the visiting team aims to perform well against Premier League competition this week.

The away team’s supporters are mostly full of confidence heading into tonight’s contest.

Opposition fans view

Lincoln City forum:

“I have a feeling we could just cause an upset there. I don’t expect United to treat this competition as a priority and will rotate quite a bit. Of course Premier League reserve players should still be very good, but team fluidity will be that bit lacking. I do expect we’ll rotate a bit as well but we have the quality in our 18/19 first teamers to give them a real game.”

“This is a game we want to win and a game they’re not bothered about at all. I would like to see us go strong with just a couple of changes.”

“Their team is likely to be young, full of pace but comparatively lightweight. Our centre backs mustn’t get drawn too far forward and be hit on the counter.”

“McBurnie looked a handful yesterday when he came on v City, so I’d expect him to start. They’re relegation certs for me, so as long as we start full strength I can see an upset in front of a noisy packed away end.”

“No easy task I’ll go 2-2, Imps to get through on pens.”

Sheffield United will likely hand Tom Davies and Auston Trusty their debuts tonight, and perhaps a full competitive debut is on the cards for Anis Slimane. Oli McBurnie may also be given the final quarter to get up to match speed just in time for the huge home clash against Everton on Saturday.
