AC Milan desperate to offload Divock Origi

Divock Origi’s situation at AC Milan has shifted to being surplus this summer. Despite eight days remaining in the transfer window, he remains with the club.

Earlier this window, he turned down offers to move to Saudi Arabia, and West Ham’s interest never resulted in a formal offer being made by the Hammers.

Sheffield United has shown interest but hasn’t submitted a formal bid yet either. According to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan is becoming increasingly eager to offload him.

Origi’s poor performance of just two goals in 36 games [Transfermarkt], clashes with his substantial salary of €4m per season, making him one of AC Milan’s highest earners. The Belgian left Liverpool last summer in order to try and become a regular starter as a Rossonero. However, that has been far from the case.

A move to Sheffield United would seem unlikely in most cases, but considering the Blades seem to be the only club interested at the moment, a deal may surface before the transfer window is up.

According to The Star, United can sign players on loan who currently earn as much as £100k per week. This report has given more substance to the Divock Origi rumours.
