Sheffield United target Kevin Zefi was nearing the final stages of signing for Newcastle United. The talented young Irishman is currently with Inter Milan.
According to reports from Calciomercato, the Magpies are on the brink of finalising the transfer of the 18-year-old. Zefi has not been participating in training with Inter’s U19’s team due to swirling rumours about his potential move out of the club.
Having acquired Zefi from Shamrock Rovers in 2021, the Serie A giants have been nurturing his skills within their academy. In the previous season, the young winger showcased his abilities by netting 16 goals and contributing three assists while playing for Inter’s U18 squad.
It is rumoured that if Zefi’s move to St James’ Park is completed, he will initially join the youth academy to further develop before entering the senior ranks. Despite being closely watched by newly promoted Burnley and Sheffield United, neither can match the financial package that other clubs are offering for him.
Recent reports from transfer specialist Alan Nixon indicate that Zenit St Petersburg has entered the scene with a compelling offer for the player. This enticing proposal from Zenit has caused the player to seriously consider the offer, especially considering the hesitation shown by Premier League clubs in pursuing the player. It is thought that the player may snub the Magpies and move to the Russian league.
In other transfer news, the Blades are set to enquire about the availability of AC Milan’s Divock Origi.
