Man City dealt injury blow ahead of Bramall Lane visit

Man City have received unfortunate news regarding an injury before their upcoming match against Sheffield United. Pep Guardiola confirmed that John Stones will not be available until after the international break due to a muscle issue he sustained during pre-season.

Stones, a key player in City’s system, was absent in their first two Premier League games but he was on the bench during their recent Super Cup victory against Sevilla. However, he is set to miss City’s next two league games, per Manchester Evening News.

Amidst these injury setbacks, Bernardo Silva was absent during their hard-fought victory against Newcastle United, and Kevin De Bruyne, their main playmaker, is expected to be sidelined for four to five months following his hamstring surgery.

The Blades go into Sunday afternoon’s kick-off with zero points on the board, and there is a strong possibility that won’t change after their third match as Paul Heckingbottom’s side will be massive underdogs.

You can never say never though. The two sides met in the FA Cup semi-final only a few months ago, and United gave it their best effort to get the victory. Iliman Ndiaye, now departed, had the game’s early chance but he missed a sitter. And the way the back line defended was excellent, but unfortunately the referee gave City a helping hand to take the lead right before halftime when he gave a dubious penalty claim. From that point, United’s hopes vanished and they eventually caved in, losing 3-0.
