Sheffield United legend Billy Sharp has completed his medical at LA Galaxy. Terms have been agreed on a deal until the end of the MLS season with a one-year option to stay for a further year, reported by Mike McGrath.
Sharp had offers from a number of EFL clubs including Rotherham United and Derby County. But, the striker will begin a new journey in America.
Despite experiencing limited playtime with Sheffield United in the previous season, Sharp expressed a strong desire to continue with his boyhood team in the Premier League. However, due to circumstances at the club, the two parties could not agree on a contract extension.
Sharp is on the brink of embarking on a new beginning, setting the stage for a move to the MLS to finish off his distinguished career on another continent.
Across the span of his professional career, Sharp has netted an impressive aggregate of 130 goals in 399 Championship matches, while also contributing an additional 48 assists. In totality, his remarkable achievements encompass 266 goals across 691 games, accompanied by a notable tally of 75 assists [Transfermarkt].
The Galaxy are currently 2nd-bottom in the Western Conference, seven points off a play-off qualification place. Billy Sharp will get to play alongside the likes of Javier Hernández, Douglas Costa and Riqui Puig.
