Vincent Kompany on Sander Berge

Vincent Kompany views Sander Berge’s arrival at Burnley as a valuable addition of Premier League know-how to the squad. Kompany elaborated on the reasoning behind the Clarets’ decision to secure the midfielder’s signature and expressed optimism that a change of environment will unlock his full potential.

The 25-year-old has made the transition from fellow promoted team Sheffield United to Burnley. With the midfielder’s contract at Bramall Lane nearing its end, Burnley seized the opportunity. The Norway international committed to a four-year contract at Turf Moor.

This summer has seen Berge become the tenth new arrival at Turf Moor. Their campaign kicks off tomorrow evening at Turf Moor against Manchester City.

Having encountered Berge both as a player and now as a manager, Kompany acknowledges the midfielder’s qualities. Berge faced off against Burnley last season in the Championship, as both Sheffield United and Burnley secured automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

Kompany has identified the strengths Berge brings to Burnley, with his wealth of top-flight experience being a prominent asset. Boasting physical prowess and technical proficiency, Kompany envisions providing Berge with a platform to excel and evolve. The change in surroundings is anticipated to work in his favour and encourage growth.
