With Sheffield United’s lack of depth in forward areas Paul Heckingbottom has given Will Osula and Daniel Jebbison plenty of minutes in pre-season games. The two youngsters are yet to find the back of the net despite having several chances to do so.
Heckingbottom has hit out at the raw and dynamic duo claiming they need to do more to keep the shirt. He stated in a live BBC Radio Sheffield interview:
“Right now they’re going nowhere. If that changes and they’re not going to get game time then no problem loan. But they’re not going to get more opportunities than we have been giving them. They’re lucky but they need to give a little back now.”
He expanded:
“How many opportunities do they want? We train with them every day, we give them opportunities on the pitch. The door’s there, go and kick it in and get in the team.”
Osula has been desperately unlucky this pre-season having had a perfectly legal goal ruled out against Estoril before hitting the bar with an overhead-kick, moments later. He hit the bar in Sheffield United’s previous game against Derby County after linking up with the now departed Iliman Ndiaye.

Daniel Jebbison could have had a couple of goals in the friendly match against Rotherham United, after being denied excellently by a last-ditch block, and then later stopped by the goalkeeper.
Jebbison is arguably more along in his development after spending time in and around the matchday squad last season. Jebbison made 19 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting once [Transfermarkt].
