Sheffield United are considerably weak down the left side of the team, with only Max Lowe and new signing Yasser Larouci as the available left-wingbacks, and Jack Robinson is the club’s only fit left-sided centre-back. But that may change in the matter of days.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the Blades are in talks with Arsenal over signing left-footed defender Auston Trusty. The 24-year-old centre-back signed with Arsenal in the winter of 2022 from Colorado Rapids, but has yet to make an appearance for the club.
Last season, he was on loan at Birmingham, where he made 44 league appearances [Transfermarkt]. Birmingham is interested in bringing him back following an impressive spell, while Scottish giants Rangers are also considering him.
Sheffield United has now entered the race for the USA international and is in talks with Arsenal for a possible loan move. However, it is thought that Arsenal will also be prepared to let him go permanently.
Over the weekend, it was reported by Alan Nixon that Axel Tuanzebe was preparing to sign for the Blades, he even claimed the player was having a medical with the club. Amid the reports, a deal for Tuanzebe looks off the table, therefore the Blades are focusing on bringing in Auston Trusty.
