Jayden Bogle and Ismaila Coulibaly injury woes

Sheffield United have had some injuries to deal with through the early stages of pre-season. Jayden Bogle and Ismaila Coulibaly did not make the trip to Portugal after both players suffered from knee swelling. The pair met with specialists earlier this week and the medical staff will reassess when they get back to England.

Paul Heckingbottom told Yorkshire Live:

“Hopefully, they can be treated and managed carefully, without any serious issues. I’m looking forward to getting back and hopefully getting some good news on how they are progressing.”

Bogle has had issues with his knee ever since having surgery on it back in February 2022, and then he had to go under the knife last October due to metal catching the back of his joint which caused swelling.

After impressing last preseason, Coulibaly might have played himself into contention, however, he required knee surgery which was a huge setback for the midfielder. He was forced to miss several months and he wouldn’t make his full competitive debut until February, in an FA Cup fourth round replay against Wrexham.

It remains to be seen just how serious the knee issues are for Bogle and Coulibaly, but it is a huge blow for them both to miss preseason. Additionally, it makes United short on depth at right-wingback, and in midfield, where they have had rely on development players to fill out those positions.
