Abdoulaye Ndiaye has a €4m price tag

Sheffield United are actively searching for a new left-sided centre-back. Several reports have claimed they have identified Lyon’s Abdoulaye Ndiaye for the position.

Ndiaye, 21, spent last season on loan with SC Bastia in Ligue 2 where he played 29 games. He found the net once, in his debut, and provided two assists for his teammates [SofaScore]. Now he has returned to Lyon this summer and he is currently training in the Netherlands with the rest of the squad. He even featured for Lyon in a friendly game against De Treffers.

According to Footsur7, Lyon are prepared to sell the talented defender for as little as €4m, which has caused uproar amongst their fans as they continue to sell their young promising players for small fees.

The Blades aren’t the only team interested in the player, FC Lorient and Troyes have expressed interest in him. But the pull of playing in the Premier League could mean United is the most attractive prospect for Ndiaye.

Ndiaye possesses great athleticism, he is a fast runner, strong in a tackle and he has a great jump. Most importantly, his defensive awareness and football IQ is there for all to see.

If Sheffield United were to acquire the Senegal youth international, a lot of comparisons might be drawn to Anel Ahmedhodzic as they have very similar attributes as a passer of the ball, and in a defensive sense as well.
