Billy Sharp has still not found a new club yet after being released from Sheffield United following their promotion to the Premier League. Although the 37-year-old no longer wears the Blades badge on his chest, United fans will undoubtedly continue to support the club legend.
Last season Sharp featured 45 times in all competitions scoring three goals. That isn’t what you’d come to expect from the veteran poacher. Despite that, everybody in the Championship knows that he is still capable of scoring goals at that level. In his entire career, the striker has scored 130 goals in 399 Championship games, adding a further 48 assists to his name, per Transfermarkt.
Coventry City and Hull City are two named Championship teams that are interested in signing Sharp. Plus, Derby County is also plotting a move for the forward, according to Alan Nixon.
Which team would suit Billy Sharp the most?
I can’t see Sharp entertaining talks with Derby County as he has shown disdain for the Rams in the past.
A team like Coventry City that has an energetic style about them could suit Sharp. Without beating around the bush, he is no spring chicken anymore, so having legs around him will help him. He would likely partner up with their new signing Ellis Simms.
Hull City are an intriguing team, and I think one’s to watch as dark horses next season for the playoffs. And staying in Yorkshire could be the preferred move for Sharp.
