Benie Traore wanted by the Blades and Rangers

Sheffield United face stiff competition from Rangers in the battle to sign Benie Traore. The player was missing from Hacken’s squad in their latest match. As a result, it has fuelled rumours that the attacker is set to leave the Swedish side.

After pursuing other targets such as Cyriel Dessers and Danilo, Rangers have turned their attention back to the 20-year-old. But is the lure of playing in the Premier League too much to turn down?

The Ivorian scored a remarkable 15 goals in 20 appearances for Hacken last term. He also racked up five assists (FBref). That sort of form has sparked the interest of the Blades and Yorkshire Live has claimed the club is hoping to strike a £5m deal. The player is currently under contract with Hacken until 2026.

Traore is a different sort of striker given that he tends to drift all over the pitch, especially to wide areas. But he would add great variation to United’s attacking depth.

Currently, they have a box-striker in Oli McBurnie, two raw athletic youngsters in Daniel Jebbison and Will Osula, a playmaker in Iliman Ndiaye and a sharpshooter in Rhian Brewster. Benie Traore would add a dynamic goal scorer element to the front line.
