Blades and Burnley show interest in Amad Diallo

Sheffield United and Burnley are battling to sign Manchester United’s winger Amad Diallo on a season-long loan, Football Insider reveals.

The 20-year-old had a successful loan spell with Sunderland last season which would ultimately end in play-off despair. Diallo managed 14 goals and four assists in 43 appearances in all competitions, per FBref.

The Ivory Coast international joined the Red Devils for a reported potential fee of £37m in 2021, signing a contract until 2025. So far the talented winger has seeked football elsewhere, having been shipped out on loan to Rangers for a half a season in January 2022, but his loan spell in Scotland didn’t go to plan. However, fans of the Championship saw Diallo flourish during his loan spell with Sunderland.

Tony Mowbray is hoping to bring the winger back to the Stadium of Light this summer, and Southampton have also previously expressed interest in the winger. But there is growing interest for Diallo across the Premier League and Europe.

After Manchester United confirmed the arrival of Mason Mount, Diallo will once again be out of favour at Old Trafford.

Premier League teams are limited to two domestic loan signings, and the Blades are looking to execute one of those with the addition of the exciting young prospect.

In the past United have been criticised for signing wingers and then forcing them into central positions. Although Diallo is commonly known as a winger, he has played behind a striker before.
